Super Self-Cleaning Vents

Longer-lasting efficient venting for your process.

Inverted Taper — International Patents

Vents for Aluminum Processes

In aluminum casting processes, the clogging mechanism is different. The challenge is not sand grain entrapment, but the buildup of aluminum residue in the vent openings. The MeltVents-KT line was developed for permanent molds and features 4° inverted tapered slots, which help reduce aluminum residue buildup and preserve venting efficiency for longer.

Applications: recommended for gravity and low-pressure aluminum casting processes.

Self-Cleaning Venting Geometries

Vents for Sand Processes

In sand processes, venting efficiency is mainly reduced when sand grains and process residues accumulate in the venting passages. That is why Ventistamp manufactures vents with self-cleaning venting geometries featuring 20° or 35° taper, selected according to the line, model, and application. These geometries hinder sand grain entrapment and contribute to higher clogging resistance, helping the tooling maintain efficient venting for longer before cleaning or intervention is required.

Applications: recommended for Cold Box, Hot Box, Shell Molding, Warm Box, No-Bake, and Green Sand Molding processes.

Technical Design That Follows the Tooling Cavity Geometry

Not every vent application area is flat. In core boxes, patterns, or permanent molds, curved, concave, convex, or inclined surfaces may require adaptations when conventional vents are used.

Ventistamp manufactures models with concave curved, convex curved, and inclined faces to follow the tooling geometry in both sand and aluminum processes. This adaptation reduces the need for manual adjustments and helps preserve the internal venting geometry, maintaining the vent’s self-cleaning function.

Advantages

  • Better adaptation to the cavity geometry.
  • Reduced need for manual adjustment.
  • Preservation of the taper and internal venting geometry.
  • Faster replacement in curved or inclined areas.
